DEHYDRATION AND ITS EFFECT ON THE BODY

In a nutshell, dehydration may affect the body in ways that one cannot imagine.
A long flight, insufficient fluids and little movement not only lead to dehydration
but also cause conditions such as DVT ( deep vein thrombosis) which can have
                     severe consequences.

In infants and small children, signs such as sunken fontanels, sunken eyes and
irritability may be caused by dehydration.

Electrolyte imbalances also occur within the body, due to dehydration . People
who go on long walks in a desert climate, may become dehydrated without
being aware of it. Sweating and fluid loss occurs and is not very obvious. It is
suggested that sports drinks are taken on such trips as they replace not only fluids,
                    but also electrolytes.
