THE SALT STORY


 WHY IS SALT SO IMPORTANT?

Salt as we know it, is a very simple commodity. It is not
only essential to the body's survival, but also used as in
a number of ways that we hardly think about.

The body depends on salt. It is an electrolyte found in all the
body's cells. Sweat contains salt. Salt is used in sports drinks
to combat dehydration. 

WHERE DOES SALT COME FROM?
Salt may be extracted from the rocks in the sea (rock salt).
It may also come from sea weed.

MULTIPLE USES OF SALT
Salt is simple and versatile. It is used in a variety of ways.
Salt can be seen on the tables of the finest restaurants, at home
on the dinner table or handed out in small packages in fast food
restaurants.

SALT AS A PRESERVATIVE
Salt is used in preserved meats like sausages and salami. It is
also used in gravies, canned goods, cheeses, pickles, olives,
anchovies and many more.
