UNDERSTANDING CLAUSTROPHOBIA AND AGORAPHOBIA FOR THE LAYPERSON

 

What is Claustrophobia?

Claustrophobia for the most part, is defined as an abnormal
fear of being in a confined space. This often leads to panic
attacks. Physical symptoms such as rapid heart rate and
difficulty breathing may result.

What is Agoraphobia?
A persistent fear of open spaces and even being outside 
the home. Panic attacks may also occur. CBT ( Cognitive
Behavioral Therapy is used as a form of treatment used
for both situations.
